NEW FOUR WHEEL DRIVE TRAINING MANUALS

Four wheel drive driver training materials were first published in 1997 by Four Wheel Drive Australia, then operating as the competency based training unit of the ANFWDC. It began as an accredited short course and was widely taken up by licensed training providers to present the training using this Council’s material. A national competency based training scheme was established and 4WD competencies were developed under an Outdoor Recreation Industry Training Package. The ANFWDC published a suite of Support Material to accompany the 4WD competency standards and support the registered training organisations (RTOs).

The release in 2011 of a reviewed Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package, prompted the update by the ANFWDC, under the banner of Four Wheel Drive Australia, of a comprehensive suite of upgraded, full colour Support Manuals, including for a completely new competency, “Driving AWD/4WD vehicles on unsealed roads, aimed at those needing to deliver personnel and material to remote locations.

The new manuals enable trainers & trainees to develop skills to prepare the four wheel driver for the conditions likely to be met anywhere in the country.

Drivers looking for quality 4WD training, should first ask any training company if their courses present nationally accredited 4WD training. It is your assurance of a quality course, presented by registered training organisations to national training standards and we are pleased to now offer the updated packages.
