Ford Ranger MY2016 and MY2018 Recall

Ford Ranger MY2016 and MY2018 Recall

This week 89,094 Ford Rangers have been recalled, due to potentially faulty front brake hoses.  It turns out that the flexible hoses in these models may have been installed with a twist, which when driven off-road may cause rubbing, which could lead to excess wear on the hoses and eventually failure.

The good news is that there is no need to panic – if the hose fails, the brake system warning light on the instrument light will alert you, and the rear brakes are unaffected.  If the light does come on though, be aware that your braking distance may be significantly increased until repairs can be made.

If you’ve moved since purchasing your vehicle, or are not the original owner, then you can checkout the affected vehicle VIN list.  If your vehicle is on the list, we recommend contacting your closest ford dealer at https://www.ford.com.au/dealership/ and contacting them to schedule the repair work.
